Cleveland Metroparks Zoo was established in 1882 and basically situated in Wade Park near University Circle. First animals, namely Ohio deer were devoted by Philanthropist, Jeptha Wade and by Cleveland businessman. Firstly, the Zoo was assigned to local, domestic animals. Later, the creatures are involved from all around the world. It's a interesting collection of animals from all around the world. Precious exhibits in Metroparks Zoo include the Wolf Wilderness, the African elephant’s exhibit and delayed addition is Australian Adventure.
In 1975, the deer joined the rest of zoo residents.
Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is open to the public all the year, except 1st January and 25th December. Emerald Necklace in Cleveland is one of the most extensive and interconnected park systems in United States founded in 1917, this park system is the oldest system in Ohio and now encompasses over 20,000 acres of parkland.
Metroparks Zoo in Cleveland includes several facilities namely as toboggan chutes in Strongsville, a marina, riding stables, several golf courses, and miles and miles of hiking and biking tracks.
Cleveland Metroparks philosophy includes 16 reservations including Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Most of the park areas connect to other reservations forming the 'Emerald Necklace'. Some famous reservations are namely Brecksville Reservation, Garfield Park Reservation, Big Creek Reservation and Euclid Creek Reservation. Metroparks host a full schedule of best events including family days, fall clambake, nature walks and films.
Cleveland Metropark System consist of seven golf courses they are: Little Met Golf Course located in Rocky River Reservation in Cleveland, Big Met Golf Course located in Rocky Reservation in Fairview park, Mastick Woods Golf Course located in River Rocky Reservation in Cleveland, Manakiki Golf Course located in North Chagrin Reservation in Willoughby Hills, Washington Golf Learning Center located in Washington Reservation in Newburgh Heights, Shawnee Hills Golf Course located in Bedford Reservation in Bedford, and Sleepy Hollow Golf Course located in Brecksville Reservation in Brecksville.
Cleveland Park includes namely Hershey Children's Garden which is the first public children's garden in state of Ohio. This famous garden offers children a chance to experience the natural world and enhances the process of learning for families and children. Japanese Garden, Western Reserve Herb Society Garden, Mary Ann Sears Swetland Rose Garden, Theme Gardens, Campsey Stauffer Gateway Garden and Woodland Garden are some other famous gardens in Cleveland.
